WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - An Alexandria Bay woman is charged with welfare fraud for allegedly stealing nearly $25,000 in benefits over 3 years.
The Watertown Police Department arrested 58-year-old Sandra Livingston on multiple felony charges on Tuesday.
Livingston allegedly lied on multiple welfare applications filed with the Jefferson County Department of Social Services from 2021 through 2024.
According to court documents, Livingston received $23,134 in SNAP benefits, also known as food stamps, as well as $1,732 in Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefits.
She’s accused of lying on applications by claiming she lived in Jefferson County when she actually lived in St. Lawrence County at the time.
