Oregon's crisp weather and earlier sunsets are signs it will soon be time to set clocks to "fall back" an hour.

Daylight saving time is set to end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, which means Oregonians will need to turn their clocks back one hour.

What is daylight saving time?

Daylight saving time was established by the Standard Time Act in 1918 to conserve energy during World War I.

In 1966, the Uniform Time Act standardized it, splitting the year into six months of standard time and six months of daylight saving.

Daylight saving time was then extended by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 which saw the time change last several weeks longer when its current schedule was established to begin the second Sunday in March
