Bari Weiss faces “mass confusion” at CBS News as network staffers face conflicting orders on whether to respond to her memo requesting details on their work duties, according to a report.

Just hours after the memo was sent on Friday, the Writers Guild of America urged union staffers to ignore the missive until CBS discloses whether their replies could serve as “a basis for discipline, discharge or layoff,” according to Variety .

But some producers at CBS News urged journalists to respond to the note, three people familiar with the matter told Variety. 3

Some of these managers are not covered by a union contract and may feel pressured to get on Weiss’ good side, according to the report.
