LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) --- An alleged serial slasher was busted for attacking a straphanger coming out of a subway station on the Lower East Side Monday morning, authorities said Tuesday.
Demetri Marshall, 32, is accused of slashing a 27-year-old man in the face on the sidewalk on Canal Street near the Essex Steet-Broadway subway station at around 7:40 a.m., according to the NYPD.
Prosecutors said the victim was waiting to cross the street when he was slashed in the unprovoked attack. The man was hospitalized with deep cuts on the nose and top lip that required stitches.
The suspect was spotted on surveillance video attacking the man and standing by the subway station entrance when the victim passed, according to the complaint.
