Some residents in Central Florida counties may notice a special vehicle driving through neighborhoods in the next few weeks as part of its hurricane preparedness efforts.

The state of Florida contracted with DebrisTech. It's equipped with 360-degree cameras and LiDAR technology to document roads, signs and vegetation throughout the city.

The goal is to create a detailed baseline of current conditions of roadways, signs, vegetation, etc., that could potentially be damaged from natural disasters such as a hurricane.

Several leaders shared the message on social media, including the city of Sanford, Oviedo and Longwood. Leaders said the project is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen emergency response and speed up post-storm recovery.
