The two birds tied for the honour in a three-week public vote last month.
More than 1,650 votes were cast between Sept. 11 and Oct. 3.
The winning birds each received 339 votes.
“It’s clear based on the response to this engagement that Kingstonians care about our feathered citizens,” Karen Santucci, director of public works and solid waste, said in an announcement of the vote result. “This dual designation of both cardinal and crow as city birds will serve as a reminder that Kingston is committed to promoting awareness of local species and protecting birds and their habitats.” Article content
The red-winged blackbird placed third with 140 votes.
The blue
