RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A man has been arrested on domestic battery charges after police say he strangled a woman and attempted to flee.

On Oct. 11, deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in Sun Valley.

When they arrived, they found that the suspect, Angel Banuelos, had fled the scene. Based on information gathered, police were able to determine Banuelos was fleeing to his residence in Fernley.

The suspect’s car was later found abandoned and on fire near the Patrick exit. Police searched the area but did not find Banuelos.

Banuelos was later found and arrested in Fernley.

He was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges of:

Domestic Battery by Strangulation, a felony

Prevent/Dissuade Reporting Crime, a felony
