FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Florence man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the shooting death of his wife in 2024.
William Cornelius Chapin II was sentenced on Tuesday by Presiding Circuit Judge Benjamin Graves to serve 30 years in prison for the killing of 59-year-old Annette Chapin. The two Chapins were married.
William Chapin pleaded guilty to the murder charge in September. In March of 2024, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to County Road 10, north of the Cloverdale community, for a welfare check.
When they arrived, officials say they located a woman, later identified as Annette Chapin, who had died of an apparent gunshot wound in the home.
