WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - Two Texas parents are facing child abuse charges after allegedly leaving their six-month-old child unattended in a tent on the beach.

According to the Walton County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, Oct. 10, deputies responded to 4000 Sandestin Boulevard after reports of an unattended infant left on the beach.

Upon arrival, the authorities said the child had been left for nearly an hour as the parents walked down the beach with three other children.

The WCSO said the parents returned to the scene and admitted to leaving the child under a tent for a nap, claiming they lost track of time.

Security footage obtained during the investigation confirmed the family was away for nearly an hour and did not bring their cell phone with them.
