KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) -- A girl was killed Tuesday morning after she was hit by a van while riding her bicycle to Ingels Elementary School in south Kansas City.

The crash was reported about 7:15 a.m. at Longview Road and Food Lane.

When Kansas City police officers arrived, they reported finding a girl under the age of 10 who had been hit by a van.

The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The child's name has not yet been released, but a school spokesman confirmed she was a student at Ingels Elementary School within the Hickman Mills School District.
