Cornwall is set to receive a boost in its land-ambulance funding.

The Ontario government announced on Tuesday that it plans to invest $10,521,539 in the City of Cornwall and United Counties of SDG to boost emergency response times.

“With this support, we can continue to enhance emergency medical services across Cornwall,” said Cornwall SDG chief of paramedic services Bill Lister. “This ensures the residents will receive the highest standard of care.”

During the last round of budget negotiations at the end of 2024, the City of Cornwall announced it would need a 20 per cent boost in funding, despite the five per cent increase in provincial support committed at the time.
