Jammu, Oct 14: Following the announcement by People’s Conference (PC) president Sajad Lone that his party will abstain from voting in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections for four vacant seats in J&K, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shifted its focus to securing support from five independent MLAs in the Assembly to win seats in the Upper House.
Reliable sources within the BJP informed Rising Kashmir that several MLAs from other parties are also expected to abstain from voting, which could give an advantage to the saffron party.
“After Sajad Lone’s announcement to abstain from RS elections, some others, regardless of their party affiliations, may also choose to abstain,” a senior BJP leader, requesting anonymity, said. “This will work in favour of the BJP.”
