SANTA CLAUS, Ind. (WEVV) — A shooting that left two people dead is under investigation in the Spencer County community of Santa Claus.

Indiana State Police officials confirm they were called to the scene of the incident at a home on Kasper Drive near Donder Lane on Tuesday afternoon.

According to ISP, 48-year-old Jamie Adkins called 911 and said she had just shot her husband.

When authorities arrived, they said they couldn't make contact with Jamie, so they entered the residence.

Inside the home, police say they found 49-year-old John Adkins dead with gunshot wounds, and Jamie with a gunshot wound.

ISP says Jamie was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where she died from her injuries.
