CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland Browns wide receiver David Bell announced on social media that he is retiring from the NFL.

In September 2024, Bell suffered a season-ending hip injury during the Browns-Jaguars game.

Bell was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list ahead of the 2025 season.

According to Bell’s post on social media, “Several months ago, I was blindsided by an off-field injury that was beyond my control, which put my football future in jeopardy.”

Bell said after consulting with doctors, “continuing to play football would literally risk life and limb.”

Bell appeared in two games for the Browns in 2024 and had three receptions for 27 yards.

The Browns drafted Bell in 2022 as a third-round pick. In his three seasons in Cleveland, he caught 41 passes for 408 yards
