A mental health trust is bringing in CCTV on all its wards after a mum was found unresponsive with four socks down her throat and a mystery bruise on her back. ‌

Maria Morris, 44, died from a brain injury caused by lack of oxygen in hospital just hours after collapsing at Bethlem Royal Hospital in South London in September 2021. A doctor treating her said he was concerned she may have been assaulted – pointing to the bruise - and questioning how she could have stuffed so many socks down her throat on her own.
