CLEVELAND, Ohio — Clean out your medicine cabinet and safely dispose of unused prescription drugs on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also providing education about the potential for abuse of medications. This biannual event is sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Unused prescription drugs, left unsecured in a home, can lead to accidental poisoning of a child, or an overdose, health experts say. Flushing drugs down the toilet adversely affects local waterways and Lake Erie.
