WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump threatened to "take away" the scheduled 2026 World Cup matches in Boston on Tuesday.

Trump made his remarks during a news conference at the White House, where he was meeting with Argentina's president, Javier Milei. Trump was asked about the "street takeovers" in Boston.

“We could take them away,” Trump said about the games in the city that were already sold out. “If somebody is doing a bad job, and if I feel there’s unsafe conditions, I would call Gianni – the head of FIFA who’s phenomenal -- and I would say, 'Let’s move into another location,' and they would do that."

Trump said that FIFA head Gianni Infantino “wouldn’t love to do it, but he’d do it very easily.”

The president didn’t offer specifics, but suggested that crime threats were hurting
