Doug Ford’s government is turning to ads once again to make its case against Donald Trump’s tariffs in the United States.

A new $75-million ad campaign will launch this week hitting Bloomberg and Newsmax television, a popular conservative network. Ford spilled the beans about the ads during a speech Tuesday at the Empire Club in downtown Toronto, saying they have been planning them for months.

“I approached my deputy chief, Travis (Kann),” Ford said. “I said, ‘Travi, let’s take Ronald Reagan’s words and let’s blast it to the American people.”

That’s exactly what the ad does. It’s a one-minute spot that pulls from a 1987 radio address Reagan gave against tariffs.
