NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — If your aim is to be totally terrified, the Haunted Trail in Newport News is the place to get scared out of your sneakers.
The dark, misty wooded trail starts at the historic Endview Museum, which showcases ghosts from the past. A guide then leads you through a heavily wooded half-mile trail.
“Watch out for the wolves," said one patron.
The woods are dark, and you don’t see creepy creatures until they’re right in front of you — or worse — behind you.
The Newport News Parks and Recreation Department puts the trail of terror together, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
The dimly-lit path through the woods takes you through a butcher shop, Zombieland, a corn maze, and a real cemetery.
“Lots of screaming. Very terrifying," said one patron after hiking the trail.
