A Tulare County man is facing multiple felony charges after prosecutors say he doused his wife with gasoline and set her on fire at their home in Porterville.
District Attorney Tim Ward announced that Sean Hofmann, of Porterville, has been charged with attempted murder, torture, mayhem, arson causing great bodily injury and domestic violence in connection with the Oct. 10 attack.
The charges include special allegations that the crimes were violent, caused injury, involved the use of a deadly weapon and were allegedly committed while Hofmann was out on bail, the agency said.
Hofmann entered a not guilty plea at the arraignment and is being held without bail. He is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing confirmation on Oct. 23 in Department 22.
