For years now, Kamaldeep Singh Sandhu has been working to help make B.C. Indigenous communities more financially sustainable, and the former UFV student is now being recognized for his hard work by receiving the new Distinguished Alumni Award.

This annual UFV award is given out to alumni who have demonstrated remarkable accomplishments in their chosen careers, with the Fraser Valley school also offering a separate award for its alumni who are 35 or younger.

Before he became a chartered professional accountant and a certified aboriginal finance manager, Sandhu was a student in the UFV Bachelor of Business Administration program.

During his time at the school, he stood out as someone who wanted to be involved in all facets of the university, including the Accounting Students of the Fraser
