HILTON HEAD, SC. (WTOC) - Hilton Head Island Town leaders voted to amend proposed changes to short term rentals.
Council says the new changes for ordinances will include:
Requiring a fire alarm system only for short term rentals with 36-hundred square feet or more.
That system must meet standards by the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.
The next change will be for parking based on the site plan- a maximum of 6 outside parking spaces.
Garage spaces do not include this.
Lastly- there will be no occupancy limitations.
All of this is set to go into effect May 1, 2026.
