Ironwood built at 34-6 halftime lead and went on to defeat Forest Park 64-42 in Great Lakes Eight Conference-West football Friday.
“We were able to get one stop in the first half but turned the ball over two plays later and gave up a score with two seconds left before half,” said Forest Park coach Brian Fabbri. “We were able to cause a turnover in the third quarter and capitalize with a score to cut the lead in the second half. But we were unable to get any more stops defensively.”
Ironwood improved to 2-1 in the conference and 3-4 overall. The Trojans slipped to 0-3 in the conference and 1-6 overall.
“Offensively we had a very good night with Trent Kannich running for 300-plus yards and four touchdowns, and it was nice to see James Smith and Devin Koga score touchdowns as well.” Fabbri
