Kirk and I were the same age, and we shared not only a conservative vision for government, but also a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. He delivered his message with honesty, grace and courage, and relished debate with those who disagreed with him, because he knew that only through open dialogue could we find common ground.
At college campuses across America, Kirk won respect by treating young people as adults, encouraging them to bring forward opposing views. His famous words “ prove me wrong” weren’t just a slogan, but a mission. He believed ideas should be tested, not silenced.
