MENTOR, Ohio — The city of Mentor is seeking a sculptor to design and install a life-size bronze statue of President James A. Garfield, who made his home in the city before becoming the 20th president of the United States.
Officials announced Tuesday that they are seeking artists interested in the project, which is scheduled for completion by July 4, 2026.
Artists must include a five-page narrative detailing their qualifications, experience, and project approach, along with up to two pages of images showing previous work. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 28.
The city will evaluate applicants based on experience, staff credentials, availability, past performance, and proposed project timeline.
