SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Thunderstorms are possible for some locations this week. Meteorologist Adam Rutt explains why storms are harder to form in the fall.

Though this fall season got off to an unseasonably warm start, we're settling into a more typical pattern this week…right down to swinging temperatures. Along the way, we're seeing more rain chances with a few areas getting in on some thunderstorms. Though our peak in severe weather season is in the rearview mirror, it's not impossible to get some convection.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature dueling air masses over KELOLAND, with warmer air to the southeast and cooler air to the northwest. In-between, we can get convection to occur as warm air runs up and over cooler air, allowing storms to develop vertically.
