The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of a plea filed by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, challenging his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).
The adjournment has squashed all hopes his supporters and the people of Ladakh had placed in the top court.
The Supreme Court had sought a response from the Centre and the Union Territory of Ladakh to the plea on October 6.
Wangchuk, who is currently detained in Jodhpur jail in Rajasthan, is being held under the stringent NSA, which allows detention for upto 12 months without trial.
He was arrested on September 26, two days after protests demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule status for Ladakh turned violent, killing four and injuring at least 90.
