Christina Corpus is no longer San Mateo County’s sheriff after the county Board of Supervisors made a unanimous decision Tuesday to oust her.
“This has been one of the most serious and difficult matters probably ever to come before this board,” said board president David Canepa during a special meeting. “The county has cause to remove Sheriff Corpus for multiple serious violations.”
Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting was the culmination of more than a year of public turmoil plaguing Corpus and the Sheriff’s Office. It was the last step in the board’s lengthy process to oust Corpus after voters overwhelmingly approved a charter amendment in March that gave supervisors the temporary power to remove the sheriff.
