Syracuse, N.Y. — The first news media debate in the general election campaign for Syracuse mayor played out much like Democratic primary forums in the spring: Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens took and fired back at shots from the other candidates who claim the city needs a major shift from the incumbent administration.
Owens on Tuesday joined Republican nominee Tom Babilon, a local attorney, and independent candidates Tim Rudd, the city’s former budget director, and community activist Alfonso Davis. The hour-long debate at WCNY was held in partnership with syracuse.com.
