MONTANDON — Twenty-seven students from nine Valley school districts arrived Tuesday morning at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit building for a hackathon competition.

None of them knew what task they would be undertaking until 9:30 a.m., when they found out they had three hours to "brainstorm and design a change, big or small, that can improve Pennsylvania schools."
