When the general manager of Kia Sudbury Motors became concerned in 2022 about financial irregularities at the dealership, an internal investigation was launched.

When the investigation was completed in 2023, the dealership’s financial controller for more than 15 years – Deborah Lepage – was determined to have stolen $712,547 from Feb. 14, 2016, to Feb. 8, 2023.

Greater Sudbury Police charged Lepage with one count of fraud over $5,000 in late 2023.

In the Superior Court of Justice on Tuesday, Lepage, 63, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Defence lawyer Emmett Brownscombe asked for a pre-sentence report. As a result, a sentencing date for Lepage will be set in Superior assignment court on Dec. 2.

A pre-sentence report usually takes six to eight weeks to complete.
