A Gettysburg street in recent days was covered with dirt, soldiers and bonnets as crews began filming a new movie, “Gettysburg 1863.”
The historical fiction film follows a Gettysburg family through their time in the Civil War and the events they witnessed, including the Underground Railroad and the battle in the streets. It also follows a Union soldier as he fights to survive and make his way home.
The filming took place on Oct. 11 and 12 in front of the historic Shrive House Museum, which was built in 1860. Crews were acting out the Union retreat on July 1, 1863, the aftermath of the battle and the procession to Soldiers’ National Cemetery before Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
People could pay to be park of the audience, with proceeds going to the Shriver House Museum. Tickets included
