Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, along with 55 party workers, was detained by police in Southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh area on Tuesday while protesting against alleged “vote theft.”

According to the police, the workers were marching towards Jawahar Chowk without prior permission for the protest. They were taken to the Najafgarh police station and later released, police added.

In a statement, the Delhi Congress alleged that the workers were detained “at the behest of the BJP ” during a signature campaign against alleged manipulation of voter rolls. “We are the ‘Babbar Sher’ of Shri Rahul Gandhi and will not be afraid of the police,” said Yadav.

He accused the BJP of “misusing government machinery and police” to suppress the campaign after Rahul Gandhi exposed the ruling party’
