COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M defensive lineman Hayes has been named SEC defensive line player of the week following his standout performance in Saturday’s victory over Florida.
Hayes recorded a strip sack and fumble recovery against the Gators, earning the highest defensive grade on the team according to Pro Football Focus. His overall defensive grade of 91 was complemented by an impressive 92.3 grade on pass rush snaps.
The recognition makes Hayes the third Aggies defensive lineman to earn the weekly honor this season, joining teammates Cashius Howell and Albert Regis.
Since the start of SEC play, A&M has held opponents to fewer than 100 rushing yards per game, a defensive standard that has been instrumental in the team’s perfect 6-0 record.
