Shenandoah County Public Schools has been awarded $105,200 through Virginia’s latest round of School Security Equipment Grants, part of a $12 million statewide initiative aimed at strengthening safety in 433 schools across 99 school divisions.
The funding, announced last week by the Virginia Department of Education, will support upgrades at Ashby-Lee Elementary, North Fork Middle, Peter Muhlenberg Middle, Sandy Hook Elementary, Signal Knob Middle and W.W. Robinson Elementary.
According to Kevin Trudgeon, coordinator of school & community relations for Shenandoah County Public Schools, the division plans to use the grant funds to install door security hardware throughout classrooms across the six schools.
