LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Some Central Kentucky residents may soon be paying more for their electricity after Kentucky Utilities requested a price hike from the Kentucky Public Service Commission.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission held a public meeting Tuesday evening to discuss the proposed rate hike, drawing concerned customers like Robin Kunkel, a wife and mother who is currently unemployed.
“I wanted to understand more of why those rates were proposed and also just let them know that’s just not feasible for us,” Kunkel said.
If approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission, the more than half a million Kentucky Utility customers would see an 11.5% increase in their bills. This figure equates to about $18 additional per month for typical customers.
