WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. - A West Middlesex council meeting got testy Tuesday night as the borough continues to negotiate with Shenango Township for police services.

West Middlesex Council President Tim Webster and Shenango Township Police Chief Jason Newton went back and forth over the expenses and costs for providing services.

As it stands, West Middlesex pays more than $193,000 per year for police coverage. Shenango Township wants to increase that cost by 23% over five years, saying if an agreement can't be reached, the department would have to furlough two of its officers.

However, council isn't sure it has that kind of money.
