Origin Energy has faced protests and repeated questions about the future of Australia's largest coal-fired power station amid suggestions it could delay its closure for a second time.
The questions were raised at Origin's annual general meeting in Sydney on Wednesday where the firm launched its 2025 Climate Transition Action Plan and a goal to cut emissions by 40 per cent within five years.
But Origin Energy executives warned renewable energy project approvals were slow, inflation remained high, and they called for urgent energy market reforms.
The announcements came after Origin posted a $1.49 billion profit for the past financial year, up 25 per cent, and signed a deal with the NSW government to extend the operation of its Eraring Power Station until August 2027.
