BANGOR -- It's one of the sticking points in legal wranglings with the owner of the Bangor Mall. Tuesday, in one of the few signs of forward progress with the mall, the dilapidated sign was dismantled and removed.

The old sign was demolished and removed, right down to the signposts. It's been in a state of decline for years, and the city of Bangor had ordered the mall's owner, Namdar Realty Group, to address the issue and many other problems with the property.

There's no word on if or when the sign will be replaced. According to state Senator Joe Baldacci, city and state officials have met with developers to possibly take over the mall property and rehabilitate it.
