JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The ripple effects of the government shutdown aren’t just being felt in Washington; they're reaching right into the homes of military families here in Jacksonville.

Just outside Naval Station Mayport, a clinic serving children with special needs says its funding has been frozen, leaving dozens of local families in limbo.

At Bloom Behavioral Solutions, about 70 children rely on care and nearly all of them come from military households.

Last week, First Coast News spoke with the CEO, Genevieve Covington , to talk about the funding freeze. Now we’re hearing directly from a Navy wife and mother who said the shutdown could jeopardize crucial care for her son.
