On this date in 1999, a Fargo construction crew captured a loose baby pig wandering near Interstate 29, turning it over to police after a humorous chase and failed attempts to find it a home.
Here is the complete story as it appeared in the paper that day:

A pig is in the pokey after it was apprehended Thursday by a Northern Improvement Co. crew Thursday in south Fargo.
The baby pig was on the lam near the 40th Avenue Southwest underpass on Interstate 29 in south Fargo.
Workers Johnny Vega and Jon Wendling saw it first. “I thought it was the strangest looking dog I’d ever seen,” Wendling said, before getting a closer look.
“I chased him through a couple of yards and he ended up back under the truck,” Wendling said. “He stopped and just stood there.”
