Runway repairs are being conducted at Shellharbour Airport as plane crash investigators probe the final 72 hours of pilot Andrew Connor's life.

Andrew and his wife Julieanne Connors and their friend Colin McLaughlin died when the light aircraft they were in crashed and burst into flames on Saturday, October 11.

The three people from Dapto had been attempting to fly to the NSW Central West for the Bathurst 1000 car race, but the plane crashed seconds after takeoff .

The runway's tarmac was damaged when the plane crashed, rupturing fuel lines and catching on fire.

Since then, Australian Transport Safety Bureau officials have been collecting evidence from the burnt-out aircraft and runways, witness statements and CCTV footage from the airport.
