Evicted yet again from a Belleville encampment, one of its residents says the city’s unhoused population should have input on how to address homelessness locally.
Belleville officials on Tuesday evicted, yet again, residents of a downtown encampment, this one across from city hall and along the busy Parrott Riverfront Trail. At the same time, Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis said Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s government has “failed” in responding to homelessness and related issues.
Some of the same people living along the trail had been evicted less than three weeks from behind the vacant building at 45 Bridge St. E., which until 2007 was owned by Sun Media, then the parent company of The Intelligencer.
