JAMMU, Oct 16: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested a Patwari red-handed while accepting a bribe amount of Rs 20,000 in Ranjan area here.
Sources said Narinder Kumar, posted at Ranjan, Tehsil Bhalwal, has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 in exchange of performing official duties related to land records.
They said the CBI also recovered an additional Rs 50,000 in cash from his car, which is believed to be proceeds from other illegal transactions.
According to sources, on October 11, the Deputy Commissioner Jammu had attached Kumar. He was arrested by the CBI when he had gone to hand over his charge at Ranjan, sources said.
Meanwhile, a case under the relevant Sections of the law has been registered against the accused revenue official and fu
