New weather maps show parts of the UK are set to be blanketed with snow , with temperatures expected to plunge to a chilly 0C, as freezing conditions batter several areas.

The weather charts reveal that unsettled conditions will sweep across the country from around midday, on October 25, and bring with it heavy rain showers and winds from the south.

However, by evening at around 6pm, the cold snap will shift northwards, with Scotland bearing the brunt of the snowfall.

According to reports from the Express , Inverness, Fort William and Portree can expect up to 10cm of snow.
