NEW DELHI: On what would have been Charlie Kirk’s 32nd birthday, President Donald Trump posthumously awarded the slain conservative activist the Presidential Medal of Freedom in a Rose Garden ceremony on Tuesday.
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a vocal supporter of Trump, was assassinated last month, sparking national outrage and a wave of political debate.
Trump praised Kirk as a “fearless warrior for liberty” and described him as an inspiration to millions of young Americans.
The former president said the award was intended to honor Kirk’s contributions to civic engagement and conservative activism, framing his legacy as a symbol of the fight for freedom of speech and ideological perseverance.
Kirk’s widow, Erika, accepted the award on his behalf, receiving it amid applaus
