A couple of familiar faces will oversee the Newcastle Falcons’ National Basketball League 1 (NBL1) fortunes in 2026.

Josh Morgan has re-signed as head coach of the men’s program with former assistant Bernadette Schmidt stepping into the women’s mentoring role.

Their respective appointments are expected to enable the organisation to take another leap forward next season.

The Falcons narrowly missed out on finals in 2025, but showed clear signs of progress, securing statement wins over the eventual NBL1 East Champions Canberra, as well as preliminary combatants Illawarra and Sutherland throughout the year.
