The agents at Slough House are renowned for the incompetence that landed them there, but there have been, of course, plenty of times when their instincts are sound, their actions are noble, and they’re wildly underestimated, just like their flatulent boss. They’re perhaps better understood as being on the spectrum of competence, because you can never guess whether last week’s grievous error will lead to this week’s unlikely triumph, and vice versa. Do recall that last week’s successful maneuver to liberate themselves from lockdown was a true group effort, with Lamb subtly engaging a room full of his people to turn the tables on their Park captors. Surely there would be no backsliding from that, right?
