COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Indiana Statewide 911 Board has announced that Bartholomew County Sheriff Chris Lane has again been chosen to serve on the Statewide 911 Board.

The board oversees the state’s 911 emergency communications system and seeks to improve public safety.

Its main responsibilities are collecting and distributing 911 funding, which comes from surcharges, and operating the statewide public safety network that handles 911 calls and texts to 911 services. The State Treasurer is the chairman of the board.

The agency also provides professional training for 911 dispatchers across the state at no cost to local governments.

Sheriff Lane’s term will last through the end of September 2028.
