NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The grandparents of 11-year-old Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres-Garcia say they are beginning to see justice for their beloved granddaughter, as three family members faced a judge Tuesday in connection with the young girl’s death.
Earlier in the day, Jacqueline’s mother, her mother’s boyfriend, and her aunt appeared in court. All three were charged with multiple counts related to the child’s death. The girl’s remains were discovered outside an abandoned home on Clark Street in New Britain, a site that has since become a memorial filled with flowers, candles, and stuffed animals.
